The Tecno Winpad 2 is the latest windows and 2 in 1 device device to land in Kenya. Apart from being a normal laptop, the keyboard is detachable to as to make it a tablet with full touch functionality. So you can be playing racing game as a laptop and as soon as you detach the keyboard, the motion sensor kicks in almost instantly.
The 10.1 Inch Tecno Winpad 2 goes for around Ksh 28,000 to 34,000 on brick stores in Kenya.
The Good
The small size and light weight Tecno Winpad 2 makes it much more portable and easy to carry around. As a Tablet the touchscreen input is used plus you have the advantage of dragging the on screen qwerty keyboard anywhere you want it.
The solid docking detachable keyboard uses cable connections as opposed to wireless connections like Bluetooth which makes it much more faster and easier to type with. The cable connections also carry charging and USB connector which carry much more current while charging or while connected to a big mass storage device. As a tablet the user gets the 2 main buttons on any tablet, the power and volume rockers.
The Winpad 2 comes with an activated windows 10 operating system which means that the user can use it straight from the box. The installed Windows 10 home edition is able to handle the laptop and tablet modes smoothly and without glitches.
The Tecno Winpad 2 is 4G enabled! But this would mean that it has a SIM slot? Yes the Tecno Winpad 2 has a SIM slot at the bottom that enables the user to enjoy 4G internet speeds (in a covered area and with a 4G SIM).

OS and Pre Installed Apps
The Tecno Winpad runs on Windows 10 Home edition. Its a 32 bit operating system although the processor can handle a 64 bit operating system. The OS comes pre installed and already activated.
What I can add here is the mobility centre that can be activated by right clicking the battery icon. It unleashes a shortcut that allows for easy access of basic settings like brightness and power saving mode.
Ports and Connectors
Now there are two devices here, the screen that doubles up as a tablet PC and the Keyboard. The Tablet has a USB3.0 port, Mini HDMI port and 3.5mm Headphone jack on the right side. At the bottom it has a Micro SIM, Micro SD card and Micro USB port for charging. At the centre of the device is the docking mechanism for connecting the keyboard so that means that all these ports are not accessible when the keyboard is connected.
That brings us to the keyboard which has 2 USB ports on either side and a charging Micro USB port on the right side. All 2 USB ports are usable when in laptop mode.
The Mini HDMI cable is however not included in the accessories, you have to buy it separately.
The bottom line
Combining everything great about the Tecno Winpad 2 makes the device a very useful office assistant especially for presentations and data entry work. Its also not all work because as a gaming device it excels with clear HD graphics and fast processing time with no lags.
