The Tecno Camon 18 has a 48MP rear triple camera setup with quad flash. On the front we have a 16MP lens with dual flash. The Tecno Camon 17 Pro can shoot videos at a quality of up to 2K at 30 frames per second. The other video qualities are 1080p and 720p which are also at 30fps.

From the top we have the 48MP lens followed by a 2MP Depth lens and then a 2MP macro lens. A wide angle lens is not available. More on this later.
Video Recording
2K Recording (1440p)
I recorded a number of clips and combined them to form the Tecno Camon 18 2K Video Samples video below. At first I thought that the maximum video recording on this phone was 4K. But the fact is that the max video recording is 2K which is also pretty decent on a 4K Smart TV.
Not all the clips are in 2K because some features/modes will drop the quality. For example Bokeh and Beauty modes record in 720p. This phone also does not have video stabilization like the Camon 18 Premier.
Bokeh Mode
The Bokeh Mode blurs the background while keeping the subject in focus. This works well with the front camera in a video selfie. For example at minute 0:50 of my video you can clearly see this effect. There was some blurry sections at the edges though.
The video quality in Bokeh Mode is 720p. While this might be low on a big screen TV, it is perfectly reasonable while being viewed on a smartphone.
Beauty Mode
Beauty mode just like its name suggests makes the users face more beautiful by making it smooth. The only downside beauty mode is that the quality is only 720p. Even YouTube does not recognize 720p content as HD content. In the future I would love to see the beauty mode upgraded to 1080p.
Photography
Even without the 48MP function selected, the Camon 18 can take very decent photographs.
Portrait
Portrait mode photos blur the background while keeping the subject perfectly in focus.

Macro
These are just a sample of the photos I too using the 2MP Macro lens.
What about Video recording? Well shooting videos using the Macro camera is not possible on the Camon 18.
Wide Angle
The Camon 18 does not have a wide angle lens or any wide angle capabilities. There are some phones like the Camon 17 Pro that used the same lens for the macro and wide angle photos. I wish the same would be replicated here.
Front Camera
The front 16MP camera also delivers decent selfies.

Conclusion
The Camon 18 might not be as expensive as the Camon 18 Premier but it does take decent photos. These two smartphones are on the same level when it comes to video recording quality but I think the Camon 18 should have at least had video stabilization.
