The Infinix NOTE 40 series continues the wireless charging specification in 2024. The device I have, the Infinix NOTE 40 Pro comes with higher charging specifications. It comes with a 70-Watt wired and 20-Watt wireless magnetic charging pad, the MagPad.
With a price tag of KES 38,699, the NOTE 40 Pro at the moment is the cheapest device to come with magnetic wireless charging. Well, apart from the Infinix NOTE 40. I conducted a charging experiment to compare how long the 70-watt wired and 20-watt MagPad will take to fill the 5000mAh battery.
Charging Experiment
It took me 4 days to deplete the battery in between my charging experiments. The 5000mAh battery is more than enough. First was by using the big 70-Watt charger. Here are my results.
- 1% – 7 Seconds
- 4% – 2 Minutes
- 13% – 5 Minutes
- 25% – 10 Minutes
- 39% – 16 Minutes
- 49% – 20 Minutes
- 59% – 25 Minutes
- 69% – 30 Minutes
- 80% – 36 Minutes
- 88% – 40 Minutes
- 95% – 45 Minutes
- 100% – 50 Minutes
That was 4 minutes faster than the time I recorded with the Infinix NOTE 30 VIP.
Bypass Charging System
If you’re using the device as you charge, then the NOTE 40 Pro has a system of bypassing the battery and powering the motherboard directly. This has the advantage of preventing overheating and prolonging the battery life as you watch your videos or play your favourite games.
MagPad Wireless Charging
What about the wireless magnetic charging pad? First of all, the magnetic effect only works with the provided phone case. How did it perform? Well, it was faster than the time I recorded with the Infinix NOTE 30 VIP again.
You can watch the wireless charging experiment from 1:27 in the video above.
Here are the magnetic wireless charging results.
- 1% – 10 Seconds
- 2% – 2 Minutes
- 10% – 10 Minutes
- 20% – 20 Minutes
- 28% – 30 Minutes
- 37% – 40 Minutes
- 44% – 50 Minutes
- 51% – 1 Hour
- 58% – 1 Hour 10 Minutes
- 65% – 1 Hour 20 Minutes
- 72% – 1 Hour 30 Minutes
- 77% – 1 Hour 40 Minutes
- 83% – 1 Hour 50 Minutes
- 89% – 2 Hours
- 94% – 2 Hours 10 Minutes
- 100% – 2 Hours 19 Minutes
So, the wireless MagPad was 51 minutes faster than the wireless charging on the Infinix NOTE 30 VIP.
Reverse Charging
The Infinix NOTE 40 Pro also supports wired and wireless reverse charging. With a suitable cable you can charge another smartphone or peripheral device. With wireless reverse charging you can charge your smart watch or even another phone.
To turn on reverse wireless charging go to settings, battery and power saving, charge and reverse wireless charging. From here you just have to turn the option ON.
